Job overview
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Senior support worker to join our 2 Interventional Radiology Teams in the Imaging directorate at Royal Preston Hospital.
Main duties of the job
- Ensuring that consumable stock is available for interventional radiology procedures.
- Assisting the Specialist Radiographers in the 2 Interventional departments.
- Providing good quality personalised care in accordance with local and national standards.
- Undertaking stock duties to maintain correct stock levels for procedures.
- Completing duties relevant to the clinical area following achievement of competencies.
- Assisting to maintain patient safety and compliance with health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Supporting patient experience and outcomes to improve standards of care.
- Promoting equality in care and practice.
- Contributing to maintaining a safe, clean and productive environment.
- Actively resolving issues and complaints at local level and reporting outcomes to line manager.
- Maintaining and developing own competence.
- Processing information according to local and national requirements.
Person specification
Qualifications and Education
- GCSE in English and Mathematics – grade C/4 or above OR Level 2 Functional Literacy & Level 2 numeracy skills.
- NVQ Level 2 Care or Equivalent (to work towards level 3 within 18 months of start date).
- Basic IT skills.
- NVQ Level 3 in Care.
- Care Certificate.
- Evidence of Continued Personal Development & Self reflection.
Knowledge & Experience
- Aware of the concept and application of confidentiality.
- Able to demonstrate Health & Safety awareness.
- Demonstrates an understanding of the role of a band 3 assistant.
- Knowledge & Understanding of Medical terminology.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook.
- Experience of working with the public and customer care skills.
- Previous experience working in an acute healthcare setting.
- Understanding of imaging procedures.
- Evidence of working at Band 2/3 in a caring environment.
- Knowledge of IR terminology, treatments and interventions.
- Previous experience working in a Radiology setting.
Qualifications and Experience
Additionally, you should hold an NVQ level 2 in Health care (or equivalent) and be prepared to study for the INCS Level 3 qualification within 18 months of appointment. You will also be expected to complete the Clinical skills Care Certificate as part of your induction unless already completed.
You will be expected to be flexible in your attitude to work as there may be a requirement to work out of hours, at weekends and Bank holidays.
You will work closely with the Lead and Specialist Radiographers, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to provide support with stock and support to patients having procedures.
