Support Worker (38.5 – 44 hours)

Responsibilities

  • Experience working within a mental health environment
  • Good working knowledge of the Mental Health Order (1986)
  • Understanding of current approaches to mental health practice
  • Ability to collaborate positively with a challenging resident group
  • Ensure care plans are comprehensive and understandable by the resident
  • Support, encourage, and prompt residents with their medication
  • Accurately maintain documentation both manually and electronically
  • Ensure house rules are kept and adhered to, providing a safe environment
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, residents, and visitors
  • Assist residents with booking and attending appointments
  • Support residents in daily tasks: self‑care, shopping, and household tasks
  • Promote residents to develop their skills and increase their independence

Qualifications

  • Required: An understanding of current approaches to mental health practice.
  • Required: Awareness of the local services available to those with mental health needs.
  • Required: Understanding of types of mental health illnesses and the level of care residents will require.
  • Required: Caring, empathetic and compassionate nature.
  • Desired: Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
  • Desired: Experience working within a Care Home setting or environment.
  • Skills Needed: Nursing / Caring.
