Education Support Worker– Secondary School (Newport)

Start Date: September 2026

Are you a recent graduate, or considering a career working with young people? This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience in a supportive secondary school environment in Newport.

We are currently recruiting for a Education Support Worker to join a welcoming and values-led school from September 2026. This role is ideal for graduates—particularly those from psychology or related backgrounds—or individuals with experience in childcare or youth work, looking to build a rewarding career in education.

The Role

  • Supporting students in the classroom on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Assisting teachers with lesson delivery and classroom activities
  • Supporting pupils’ emotional wellbeing, engagement, and confidence
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and inclusion
  • Helping to create a safe and supportive learning environment

We Are Looking For

  • Graduates or individuals looking to start a career in education
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
  • Experience supporting young people (desirable but not essential)
  • A genuine passion for working with children and helping them succeed

Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain)
  • EWC registration (or willingness to apply)
