Veda Associates is seeking a Civil Engineering Technician Apprentice to join our team and contribute to infrastructure engineering projects.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and produce technical drawings following company standards.
  • Perform basic calculations and data analysis for civil engineering tasks.
  • Manage basic CAD file creation, maintenance, and quality assurance checks.
  • Contribute to the development of 3D models and BIM outputs.
  • Provide feedback on colleague’s CAD work, identifying errors and improvement opportunities.
  • Follow the CAD standards manual and suggest system improvements.
  • Support senior CAD team members under the guidance of the BIM & CAD Manager.
  • Perform QA checks and generate reports on CAD files produced by others.
  • Observe and adhere to company Health & Safety, Environmental, and Project Management procedures.
  • Ensure delivery of drawing work on agreed project programmes.
  • Develop concept ideas into detailed drawing plans.
  • Maintain communication with contractors, customers, and engineers on technical requirements.
  • Assist with production of design reports such as HDD reports and geotechnical design reports.
  • Assist with the creation of design risk registers.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders including clients, subcontractors, and local authorities.

Training

  • Apply civil engineering principles, techniques, and methods to construction processes.
  • Use CAD and BIM software to create technical drawings and models.
  • Implement statutory health, safety, and welfare policies and risk management processes.
  • Contribute to the production or modification of technical solutions in line with industry standards and codes.
  • Apply environmental and sustainability principles, reducing carbon usage and emissions.
  • Manage own work within quality assurance guidelines and resource limits.
  • Consider equality, diversity, and inclusion in project delivery.
  • Control and maintain engineering documentation using approved processes.
  • Communicate effectively using appropriate methods and terminology.
  • Adhere to ethical principles, including secure use of data.
  • Plan, undertake, and review professional competence, updating CPD regularly.

GCSE in Maths and English (grade 4 or above)

Benefits

Permanent position available upon successful completion of the apprenticeship programme.

Wage: £15,600 for the first year, with potential increase based on experience.
