Role Overview
Are you looking for a rewarding job to help people live safe, happy and independent lives? As a Support Officer you will join our friendly and hard‑working team in supporting customers living in supported accommodation service, enabling customers to sustain their tenancies by promoting independence, freedom and choice.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess referrals and engage with prospective clients using a person‑centered approach, and liaise with health professionals/other agencies/colleagues as appropriate
- Ensure that prospective and current clients are fully aware of the support available, their financial obligations, rights and responsibilities under their tenancy/occupation arrangements and all related procedures
- Agree and review client Independent Living Plans and Risk Assessments on a regular basis, deliver contracted hours of support to achieve the required outcomes
- Engage in continuous professional development and reflective practice
- Forge and maintain links with partner agencies and other key stakeholders as appropriate to ensure that good communication and co‑operation is maintained
- Report any concerns relating to safeguarding of vulnerable people using the correct procedures, attending case conferences and other meetings as required
- Ensure that all relevant documentation and records are completed and submitted in an accurate and timely manner
About you
- GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English (Grade A*–C)
- A strong understanding of supporting individuals to achieve and maintain independence
- Experience working with diverse client groups
- Ability to motivate and support individuals facing complex challenges, including homelessness, mental health issues, trauma, substance misuse, and behavioural needs
- Good understanding of safeguarding principles and procedures
- Confident using IT systems and management information tools
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with external agencies and stakeholders
Desirable
- Housing or support-related qualification
- Experience supporting individuals with substance misuse and/or mental health needs
- Full driving licence and access to own vehicle desirable
