Job Summary

Do you have great communication skills, enjoy helping people and supporting your community? We have various hours available as Learning Support Assistants (LSA) at our College. We provide support to learners across a variety of interesting subjects we offer such as Art, Construction, Business, Protective Services, Sport, Catering, Hair & Beauty, Science, Healthcare, Travel & Tourism to name a few. We support learners either on a 1:1 basis or in a small group.

• Mobility difficulties/medical conditions
• Hearing Impairment/Visual Impairment
• Speech, Language or Communication needs

• Teacher training practice

Key Responsibilities

• Note‑taking, demonstrating;
• Explaining in steps how to do a task set by the teacher;
• Joining college trips to support learners;
• Meeting and greeting a learner to help them into College and to their lessons;
• Using support strategies to keep a learner / learners focused on their learning; and
• Creating or making adaptations to materials to help the learner access their learning / environment.

Key Person Specification Requirements

• Level 2 qualification (or equivalent)
• Good working standard of English and Maths, ideally GCSE Grade C (4/5) in Maths and English (or equivalent)
• Good working knowledge and understanding of a wide range of additional needs and strategies to support them
• Excellent organisational and digital literacy skills
• Enhanced DBS check
