Pastoral Support Assistant – Secondary School – Hayes – September 2026 Start – Full-Time

Tradewind Recruitment is partnering with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Hayes seeking to appoint a dedicated Pastoral Support Assistant from September 2026. This full-time role is ideal for graduates, youth workers, mentors, or individuals considering a future career in education, counselling, psychology, social work, or pastoral care.

This is a rewarding opportunity to become a valued member of a supportive pastoral team, helping students thrive both academically and personally while taking responsibility for a form group within a designated year group.

The Role

As a Pastoral Support Assistant, you will work closely with students, pastoral leaders, teachers, and families to ensure that every student receives the support they need to succeed. You will also act as a Form Tutor for a designated year group, playing a key role in students’ daily school experience and personal development.

  • Act as a Form Tutor for a designated year group, delivering daily registration and pastoral sessions
  • Build positive relationships with students and act as a trusted adult within the school
  • Monitor attendance, punctuality, behaviour, and wellbeing within your form group
  • Provide pastoral and emotional support to students across KS3 and KS4
  • Work one-to-one and in small groups with students who require additional support
  • Assist with behaviour management and restorative conversations
  • Support students who may be experiencing social, emotional, or mental health challenges
  • Liaise with teachers, pastoral leaders, parents, and external agencies where appropriate
  • Monitor student progress and contribute to support plans and interventions
  • Promote positive behaviour, resilience, and student wellbeing across the school
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
  • Support the organisation of assemblies, enrichment activities, and year group events

  • Confidence leading a form group and acting as a positive role model
  • Previous experience in education, youth work, mentoring, coaching, social care, or similar settings is desirable but not essential
