Salary

Grade 3 – £25,583 pro rata for 28.75 hours per week term time only, 45.8 weeks per annum equating to £17,461.52 pro rata, rising to 46.8 weeks, £17,842.78 pro rata per annum after 5 years’ service.

About the Role

Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to provide one-to-one support within a caring environment. Fixed‑term initially, subject to funding, with possible further employment.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the class teacher and ALNCo to implement the child’s Individual Development Plan in line with the Additional Learning Needs and Education Tribunal (Wales) Act 2018.
• Provide tailored support to meet communication, sensory and emotional regulation needs.
• Use strategies such as visual timetables, social stories and structured routines to promote engagement and independence.
• Support learning activities, transitions and social interaction in class and during unstructured times.
• Record progress and contribute to regular review meetings.
• Liaise with parents/carers and external professionals to ensure consistency and best outcomes.

Requirements

• Experience supporting children with ASD or other neuro‑diverse needs in an educational setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable

• Training in autism‑specific approaches (PECS, Makaton, TEACCH).
• Welsh language skills.
