Electrical Field Technician (Field Service & Installation)

Job Role

Due to continued growth, we are seeking a practical, hands‑on Electrical Engineer to join a provider of temporary climate control and digital solutions company, based in Cumbernauld. This is a varied role combining workshop‑based maintenance with field‑based installation, commissioning, fault‑finding, and customer support across sites throughout Scotland’s Central Belt. This position would suit an electrically qualified engineer who enjoys a mix of depot and site work and has experience working with industrial electrical equipment, temporary power systems, or construction‑related electrical installations.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver, install, commission, and decommission electrical equipment at customer sites.
  • Carry out planned maintenance, servicing, and repairs on electrical plant and equipment.
  • Diagnose and rectify electrical faults both in the workshop and on customer sites.
  • Support ongoing projects by attending sites, monitoring equipment performance, and ensuring operational reliability.
  • Prepare equipment for deployment, ensuring all testing, inspections, and calibration requirements are met.
  • Coordinate equipment logistics and assist with the day‑to‑day management of allocated projects.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships and provide technical support where required.
  • Ensure compliance with all company procedures, health and safety requirements, and industry regulations.

Candidate Specifications

  • Electrical engineering, electrical maintenance, or installation experience gained within industrial, construction, utilities, manufacturing, plant hire, temporary power, facilities management, or related sectors.
  • Experience working with 415V and 110V electrical systems.
  • Strong fault‑finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Knowledge of power distribution systems and electrical plant equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and manage site‑based activities.
  • Excellent communication and customer‑facing skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (preferred).
  • 17th Edition considered.
  • Electrical apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND, City & Guilds, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Inspection and testing qualifications advantageous.
  • Experience working within construction, infrastructure, petrochemical, marine, pharmaceutical, or food processing environments.
  • Previous experience with temporary power, generators, distribution equipment, climate control systems, or rental equipment highly desirable.
