Roadside Mechanic / Roadside Technician – We are recruiting a skilled mechanic for a permanent opportunity. If you’re a hands‑on, experienced technician with broad mechanical knowledge on many makes and manufacturers, and enjoy working on the road, this could be the perfect role for you.

You will be contracted to work 40 hours over four days a week, with operating hours between 7am and 8pm Monday to Sunday, one fourth of the weekend days, with the opportunity to do overtime if you choose.

Anyone with a solid practical mechanic or vehicle technician background would be suitable for this position, as long as you can diagnose and fix mechanical issues with all brands of cars.

You will be based at home, set up with everything you need plus a company vehicle. Once you receive a call from the breakdown provider, you will visit the customer’s roadside location to diagnose the problem.

Ideally you will live in or around these locations:

  • Yeovil, Bristol, Frome, or Bath or surrounding areas – this will be the corridor you cover.

The Job: Roadside Technician / Roadside Mechanic / Vehicle Technician

  • You will assist customers experiencing vehicle issues such as out of fuel, tyre repair/change, or battery replacement, and provide a full kit to help them get back on the move.
  • You will diagnose the problem and determine the required repairs, giving customers confidence to continue their journey without further interruptions.
  • Ensure all jobs are completed with excellent customer service and empathy.
  • Confirm parts are ordered as per estimate; return unused parts to the parts department for credit.
  • Maintain awareness of and adhere to all necessary standards and H&S procedures.
  • Ideally you will hold a Level 2 minimum certification in light vehicle maintenance and repair or mechanics.
