Job Description:

Graduate Apprentice Surveyor – fixed term until 30/08/2030, Waverley Court.

Salary: £27,257 – £29,850 (2024). Hours: 36 per week.

The Mixed Tenure Improvement Service delivers high‑quality repairs and energy‑efficiency upgrades across social, shared ownership and private homes in Edinburgh. We manage coordinated programmes that improve safety, sustainability and quality of council and mixed‑tenure housing stock.

The role: You will study towards a BSc (Hons) in Construction and Built Environment while gaining hands‑on experience within a fast‑paced council environment. You will develop technical surveying, project coordination, resident engagement and contract management skills to support ambitious improvement programmes across mixed‑tenure estates.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement technical surveying tasks as part of large improvement projects.
  • Coordinate project schedules and liaise with contractors, residents and internal stakeholders.
  • Engage residents and support communication and customer‑service during works.
  • Assist with contract management and procurement processes.
  • Support management in delivering high‑quality, end‑user focused upgrades.

Qualifications Required

Year 1

  • SQA Highers at ABBB or equivalent.
  • A‑levels at ABC or BBB.
  • Scottish Baccalaureate 29 points.
  • Foundation apprenticeship in Civil Engineering with SQA minimum AAB or a combination totalling 96 SCQF credits at level 6 (or 126 UCAS points).

Year 2

  • SQA Advanced Highers at BB and Highers at AAAB.
  • A‑Levels at ABB.
  • HNC in a construction‑related subject with an A.
  • HND in a construction‑related subject with a B.
  • Suitable Modern/Technical Apprenticeship.
  • Scottish Baccalaureate Distinction or 35 points.
  • Combination totalling 96 SCQF credits at level 7.
