Geography Teaching Assistant

Geography graduates with a 1st or 2:1 degree required. Full‑time term‑time position (Monday to Friday, 8:15am – 3:45pm) at an outstanding graded secondary school and sixth form in Ilford, East London.

Key Responsibilities

• Support teaching and learning in Geography for students aged 11 to 18.
• Assist all ability groups, from high achievers to students with barriers to progress.
• Scaffold the work of the teaching team and help monitor student progress.
• Provide additional support in the classroom and during extra sessions as required.

Qualifications and Skills

• Degree in Geography (First Class or 2:1) from a recognised university.
• Strong academic record in Geography, with GCSEs in English and Maths at grade C or above.
• Demonstrated interest in pursuing teacher training (salaried teacher training route from September 2027).
• Effective communication skills and a positive attitude toward supporting diverse learners.

Salary and Benefits

• Weekly pay of £510 to £550.
• Annual salary of £24,580, including a bursary top‑up.
• Opportunity for salaried teacher training starting September 2027.
