We are looking to appoint 1 x Level 3 Apprentice to join our team to provide valuable, practical assistance to class teachers in Key Stage two – both in the classroom and also supporting pupils over lunch time. The successful candidate will be able to communicate effectively with people at all levels.
Wage and Hours
Weekday hours: Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 3.30pm (32.5 hours per week with a 30‑minute unpaid lunch break). Term time only plus inset days (39 weeks). Total weekly hours: 32 hours 30 minutes.
Wage: £13,520 for the first year (pro‑rated to 39 weeks, £10,140). Wage may increase depending on age.
Start date: 1 September 2026. Duration: 1 year 6 months.
Location: Thornley Lane, South Reddish, Stockport, SK5 6QG.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish rapport and respectful, trusting relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations.
- Supervise and support pupils to undertake agreed learning activities linked to local and national curriculum and learning strategies (e.g., literacy, numeracy).
- Adjust activities according to pupil responses and needs, including for pupils with special educational needs.
- Support and implement pupils’ personal programme, including social, health, physical, hygiene, and welfare matters; administer basic first aid and/or medication as required.
- Promote inclusion and acceptance of all pupils by encouraging interaction and engagement in activities led by the teacher.
- Support the effective use of ICT in learning activities and develop pupils’ competence and independence in its use.
- Support the implementation of Support Plans for pupils with additional needs.
- Promote self‑esteem and independence amongst pupils.
- Provide feedback to pupils on their progress and achievement under the guidance of a teacher, in line with school policy.
- Promote good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflicts in line with school behaviour policies.
- Establish constructive relationships with parents and carers, promoting the school’s home/school liaison policy.
- Assist the teacher with the preparation of teaching and learning materials and resources.
- Provide detailed feedback to teachers on pupils’ achievement, progress, and challenges as requested.
- Undertake pupil record‑keeping and assist with the collation of pupil reports, including data inputting.
- Maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment in accordance with lesson plans.
- Assist with the display of pupils’ work.
- Prepare, maintain and use equipment/resources required to meet lesson plans/learning activities.
- Provide clerical support for teachers, e.g., photocopying, filing, collecting money, production of worksheets for agreed activities.
Training
Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills. Training will be provided by The Trafford and Stockport College Group.
Training schedule has not been finalised. Check with the employer if you’ll need to travel to a college or training location for this apprenticeship.

Requirements
- GCSE in Maths (grade 4 or above).
- Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience; the apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

- Candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
- Release time at college/for study will be provided as needed.

- Evidence of successful study at secondary school level or equivalent qualifications.
