Job Description:

By the time many young people reach secondary school, they may disengage from education due to SEMH needs, Autism, or ADHD. Your role will be to re‑engage these learners and support them back into education.

This term‑time only role offers a salary scale of £23,000 – £27,000 (depending on experience), with all school holidays off and fully paid. 10–20 days are allocated for training and development during holiday periods.

Responsibilities

  • Support young people aged 16‑24 in their homes or community settings, delivering 2‑3 hour sessions focused on wellbeing, confidence‑building and learning re‑engagement.
  • Typically manage a caseload of 10‑15 learners.
  • Discuss strategies to manage anxiety.
  • Identify barriers to learning and create tailored solutions.
  • Design co‑curricular activities to make learning more engaging (e.g., linking literacy tasks to their personal interests).
  • Help learners develop skills to transition into education, training, and employment.
  • Provide one or two days per week of classroom‑based teaching assistant support.
  • Work primarily in outreach across Kettering, Corby and Wellingborough. A driver’s licence is required and mileage will be paid.

Qualifications

Experience working with young people is essential, such as in the following roles:

  • Youth support worker / mentor
  • Teaching assistant / HLTA
  • Tutor / teacher
