Job Overview
Second Chef at Barchester Healthcare delivering hotel/restaurant standards without split shifts. Assist the Head Chef with menu development and kitchen management while ensuring a warm, balanced dining experience for residents.
Responsibilities
- Assist Head Chef in menu development and kitchen management.
- Manage kitchen operations in Head Chef’s absence.
- Use fresh seasonal produce to create nutritious, high‑quality meals.
- Maintain a warm, efficient, and fun kitchen environment.
- Work within budget, complete regular audits, and manage stock control.
Qualifications
- Personable and warm approach with genuine interest in residents’ wellbeing.
- Hold City & Guilds, NVQ, SVQ or equivalent.
- Good understanding of nutrition.
- Experience working with fresh seasonal food.
- Ability to create a welcoming environment.
- Confidence engaging with residents to craft appetising and nutritious menus.
- Good understanding of HACCP.
