Everything You Need To Know
We’re looking for someone to join the team as a Connection Operative, working in the Derbyshire area. In this role you will provide dependable customer service within set timescales, safely but effectively install our infrastructure assets – pipes and ancillary fittings, and undertake the full range of duties involved in the delivery of an effective installation of new water connections using a wide range of innovative technologies and equipment to ensure water supplies are connected on time.
Other key accountabilities are:
- Respond to customer service issues / queries that are raised on‑site and, taking ownership of the issue, escalating to the appropriate person or team.
- Lead by example and promote a safe working environment whilst ensuring quality standards are met.
- Be accountable for your own health & safety and have a duty of care to your colleagues and anyone affected by the work you do, for example the general public or site personnel.
- Exercise good judgment and balance in terms of the risk/impact to our customers, the general public, and road‑traffic users, relative to the activity in hand, and ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory and company standards at all times.
- Mentor and train new trainees as required.

What You’ll Bring To The Role
You should have a full driving licence, be NRSWA trained, hold a mini‑digger qualification, and possess a valid blue card. Experience working in the water or utilities industry, with knowledge of connections, is ideal. You must also be able to work directly with customers face‑to‑face, maintain a positive outlook, remain flexible, and accept new ideas and change initiatives. Physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors in all weathers are required.
