Manufacturing Engineer – Composites & Complex Assembly
Location: Swindon (5 days a week on-site)
Salary: £55,000 – £70,000 + Benefits
Are you a hands on Manufacturing Engineer with experience in composite manufacturing and complex structural assembly? Do you enjoy solving production challenges, improving processes, and working closely with operators on the shop floor? If so, this could be an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing advanced engineering organisation developing cutting edge aerospace and autonomous systems.
We’re looking for a Manufacturing Engineer who can bridge the gap between composite component manufacture and complex airframe assembly. You’ll play a key role in developing robust manufacturing processes, improving production efficiency, and supporting the transition from development into scalable production.
What You’ll Be Doing
• Defining and improving manufacturing processes for composite components and complex structural assemblies
• Creating and maintaining work instructions, assembly documentation, and process controls
• Supporting composite layup, curing, tooling, inspection, and defect investigation activities
• Developing assembly sequences and ensuring efficient build methodologies
• Working with jigs, fixtures, and assembly aids to improve quality and repeatability
What We’re Looking For
• Proven hands on experience within a manufacturing engineering environment
• Strong knowledge of composite manufacturing processes, including hand layup and production process controls
• Experience identifying and resolving composite defects such as porosity, delamination, bridging, and dry fibre issues
• Understanding of tooling, mould management, release systems, and laminate sequencing
• Familiarity with NDT methods such as visual inspection, tap testing, or ultrasonic inspection
Desirable Experience
• Aerospace, defence, motorsport, UAV, UAS, eVTOL, or advanced manufacturing experience
• Autoclave, infusion, AFP, or composite repair experience
• DfM and DfA involvement with design teams
• Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement experience
• Experience in low volume, high complexity manufacturing environments
Why Apply?
This is a rare opportunity to join a highly innovative engineering organisation operating at the forefront of aerospace and autonomous technology. You’ll have the chance to influence how advanced products are manufactured, work alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams, and play a direct role in scaling next generation technology from development into production.
