Location: UK (Hybrid/Remote)

Rate: Up to £700 per day Outside IR35

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Security Architect to support the design, implementation, and governance of secure technology platforms within a fast-paced financial services environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background working with leading digital banks or fintech organisations such as Monzo, Starling, Revolut, or similar high-growth financial institutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and maintain security architecture standards across cloud-native platforms and customer-facing applications.
• Partner with engineering, infrastructure, and product teams to embed security-by-design principles throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Conduct threat modelling, security reviews, and risk assessments for new products and services.
• Design secure architectures across AWS, GCP, or Azure environments, including IAM, network security, encryption, and monitoring controls.
• Support compliance with financial services regulations, operational resilience requirements, and security frameworks.
• Provide technical leadership on application security, cloud security, DevSecOps, and identity management initiatives.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Security Architect within banking, fintech, or regulated financial services.
• Background working for digital-first organisations such as Monzo, Starling, Revolut, or similar.
• Strong expertise in cloud security (AWS preferred), application security, and modern architecture patterns.
• Experience with threat modelling, security governance, and risk management frameworks.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior technical and business leaders.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, SABSA, AWS Security Specialty, or equivalent are advantageous.
