We are now looking for an experienced and motivated Deputy People Partner to join our People Services team and play a key role in shaping a positive working environment across the Trust.

Main duties of the job

As a Deputy People Partner, you will work in partnership with leaders across clinical and corporate services to deliver a high‑quality, professional HR service, providing expert advice on a wide range of workforce matters while supporting the delivery of our People Strategy.

This is a varied and rewarding role where you will:

  • Manage complex employee relations cases with confidence and professionalism
  • Support organisational change, restructures and service redesign
  • Use workforce data to identify trends and improve decision‑making
  • Coach and influence managers to build strong people management capability
  • Contribute to initiatives that enhance staff experience, engagement and wellbeing

You’ll also have the opportunity to lead projects, develop HR policies and deputise for the People Partner, giving you real scope to grow and progress your career.

About you

We are looking for an HR professional who is:

  • Experienced in a generalist HR role, with strong employee relations expertise
  • Confident managing complex and sensitive casework
  • Skilled in analysing and interpreting workforce data
  • An excellent communicator, able to influence and build relationships at all levels

You’ll be resilient, organised and proactive, with a passion for improving staff experience and supporting inclusive, positive workplace cultures.

Person Specification

  • Degree level qualification or knowledge and experience to degree level equivalent
  • CIPD advanced Level 7 diploma in HRM or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • In‑depth knowledge of HR practice and employment law
  • Ability to provide clear, practical advice on complex employee relations issues
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret workforce data and trends
  • Ability to influence, coach and support managers in people management
  • Demonstrates professionalism, integrity and sound judgement
  • Able to build positive working relationships at all levels
  • Resilient and able to manage demanding and sensitive situations
  • Well organised, with the ability to prioritise competing demands
  • Proactive and able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Committed to equality, diversity and inclusion, treating all individuals with dignity and respect
  • Positive and flexible approach, with a commitment to continuous improvement
  • Experience working in an HR generalist role
  • Significant experience managing employee relations casework (e.g. sickness, disciplinary, grievance)
  • Experience of supporting formal hearings and investigations
  • Experience of advising managers on organisational change and workforce matters
  • Chartered CIPD membership
  • Understanding of NHS terms and conditions (e.g. Agenda for Change)
  • Experience of using workforce data to inform decision‑making and improve performance
  • Experience within the NHS or a large, complex organisation
