Overview

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to join our Rheumatology Department at Tameside. The hospital team currently consists of 4 consultants, with an expanding specialist pharmacy and nursing team. The department has strong links with the University of Manchester and other Rheumatology centres within the North West Deanery as well as with local Primary Care colleagues.

Role

Consultant Rheumatologist on a 10‑Programmed Activity (PA) job plan. Full‑time or part‑time appointments are available, with weekends and evenings considered. Flexible working and specialist research interests will be taken into account for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Join an integrated care organisation pioneering the delivery of rheumatology services.
  • Work across a variety of clinical settings, answering to both inpatient and outpatient pathways.
  • Assist in optimising pathways and enhancing the service offered to the local community, linking with tertiary centres.
  • Participate in junior doctor training and research activities.
  • Manage the workload of the Rheumatology Department and promote best practice in rheumatology care.
  • Support ongoing service transformations such as the Early Arthritis Pathway, Giant Cell Arteritis Pathway, and Fracture Liaison Service.

Qualifications

  • Registered on the Specialist Register of the General Medical Council, or in receipt of the Certificate of Specialist Training (CCT) within six months of the interview date.
  • Expertise in rheumatology clinical practice at consultant level.
