Training Programme Director for Paediatric Surgery

Position Overview

The Training Programme Director in Paediatric Surgery will support the Head of School in the strategic development of the School of Surgery.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of the School’s Recruitment and Retention Strategy.
• Contribute to the School Operational Programme.
• Serve as a member of the School Board.
• Focus on whole workforce transformation and develop multi‑professional links.

Employment Conditions

Applicants from within the NHS will be offered the role on a secondment basis only; agreement must be obtained from the employer prior to application.

The end date for all new educator appointments is 31 March 2027. Potential extensions beyond this date are not guaranteed.

Qualifications

• Experienced NHS Consultant with a thorough understanding of Paediatric Surgery training across the region.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively as a member of a multi‑professional team.

Other Conditions

Staff recruited from outside the NHS will usually be appointed at the bottom of the pay band.
