We are seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to support and enhance the delivery of high quality, patient‑centred care within our breast service at UHD, with a particular focus in patients with metastatic disease. This is an exciting opportunity for a nurse with relevant oncology experience to develop their clinical expertise, leadership skills and make a real impact on patients living with a complex diagnosis of metastatic breast cancer and provide support to patients and their carers/families from diagnosis, throughout treatment and ongoing supportive care.
The Post Is Suitable For Either
- An experienced Band 6 nurse wishing to develop into a CNS role
- An established Band 7 CNS looking to further their specialist practice
This role is Band 6 or Band 7 depending on experience. This role requires NMC Registration.

Responsibilities
- Acting as a key worker for patients across the metastatic breast pathway.
- Running nurse‑led clinics (band 7).
- Supporting patients receiving systemic anti‑cancer therapy (SACT).
- Coordinating MDT discussions and contributing to treatment planning.
- Delivering patient education and survivorship support.
- Leading or participating in audit, service improvement and pathway development.
- Supporting clinical trials and research.
- Delivering specialist nursing care to patients with metastatic breast cancer.
- Supporting patients through the pathway, treatment options and palliative phases.
- Leading on patient education, symptom management and holistic needs assessment.
- Acting as a clinical resource and advocate for patients, families and staff.
- Contributing to service improvement, audit and the development of pathways.
Band 7 applicants will be expected to demonstrate autonomous clinical decision making and leadership within the service.
