Job description

At Skanska, we’re shaping the way we live, work and connect. As one of the world’s largest construction and development companies, we work together with customers, communities and partners to shape a better society. Our Infrastructure team brings design, build and refurbishment excellence to complex civil engineering projects nationwide – combining technical expertise with a passion for creating lasting value for people and places.

We are currently looking for a Senior Engineer who will be responsible for the technical and commercial delivery of drainage, SuDS and civil infrastructure design projects for both external public/private clients and Skanska’s internal delivery teams. You will develop robust, buildable and sustainable design solutions while providing technical leadership across the project lifecycle. As part of Skanska, you’ll also have the opportunity to support construction teams, influence buildability decisions and see your designs realised on major infrastructure developments, while delivering standalone consultancy commissions for a diverse client base.

  • Provide standalone consultancy services, collaborating with clients and stakeholders to achieve technical, environmental and planning goals.
  • Embed Health & Safety, Environmental and CDM Designer duties into projects, promoting safe, sustainable design practices.
  • Mentor and support junior staff, and advance digital engineering workflows using Civil 3D, MicroDrainage, InfoWorks and BIM tools.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) and Chartered (ICE) or actively working towards chartership.
  • Proven drainage design experience (SuDS, attenuation, flow control, modelling, hydraulics and guidance compliance).
  • Infrastructure design experience (site‑wide drainage, earthworks interfaces, public realm and related civil works).
  • Experience preparing SuDS strategies, planning submissions and drainage approvals (S104, S38, S106 and local/water‑company processes).
  • Proficient with MicroDrainage, InfoWorks, Civil 3D and BIM workflows, with strong communication skills.

Benefits

  • 24/7 digital GP service for you and your family
  • Financial wellbeing and employee assistance
  • Professional development
  • Enhanced family benefits (including maternity, paternity, dependents and parental bereavement leave)
