Job Description Purpose of the role

As an IT Operations Specialist at Tokyo Electron Europe, you will work alongside a highly experienced lead server & cloud engineer, providing additional capacity and support to ensure the smooth operation of our back‑office systems, server, and cloud infrastructure. The role focuses on day‑to‑day operational support, maintenance, monitoring, and documentation of server and cloud platforms. It requires hands‑on technical skills in IT systems, an awareness of cybersecurity practices, and strong problem‑solving and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Back Office Systems Support
    • Working in a small team to provide support for the company’s back office IT systems, including servers (primarily Dell) and virtualisation infrastructure (vCenter / VMware).
    • Install, configure, and troubleshoot server operating systems (primarily Windows Server, Linux RedHat experience or skills desirable) and related applications, following established standards and procedures.
    • Monitor system performance and availability, ensuring optimal operation through proactive maintenance and troubleshooting.
    • Support the operation and configuration of the backend Mobile Device Management (MDM) environment (MobileIron and Intune).
  2. Cloud Platform Support
    • Providing additional support for the day to day operation of cloud infrastructure platforms (Microsoft) under the direction of the Server/Cloud Engineer.
    • Assist with cloud resource monitoring, access management, and basic configuration tasks.
    • Help ensure cloud environments remain compliant with internal standards and security requirements defined by the InfoSec team.
  3. Cybersecurity Technical Support (In collaboration with the InfoSec team)
    • Support the implementation and operation of cybersecurity technical measures related to server and cloud platforms.
    • Assist with endpoint protection, patching, and vulnerability remediation activities as defined by policy.
    • Monitor system and security logs and escalate potential security incidents according to defined procedures.
  4. Operational Support & Service Management
    • Provide back office technical support for server and cloud related incidents and requests via the service desk. Respond to tickets in a timely manner, diagnose issues, and implement solutions within agreed responsibilities.
    • Follow incident, change, and escalation processes.
    • Assist with employee onboarding and offboarding requests, including user account setup, and handle server access and permissions requests via the service desk.
  5. Backup & Disaster Recovery
    • Work with the existing team to support backup and disaster recovery solutions protecting critical systems and data.
    • Assist with backup monitoring, testing, and recovery activities to ensure business continuity.
    • Maintain backup and recovery documentation and procedures.
  6. Documentation & Continuous Improvement
    • Maintain and update technical documentation, runbooks, and support procedures for server and cloud platforms.
    • Identify opportunities to improve stability, standardisation, and operational efficiency in line with local and global directives.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree or similar qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 3+ years’ experience in an IT infrastructure, systems administration, or operations support role.
  • Proficiency in managing Windows server environments.
  • Knowledge of Linux environments (such as RedHat) would be an advantage.
  • Basic understanding of Virtualisation technologies, Cloud computing concepts (IaaS / SaaS), Backup and restore principles.
  • Ability to work methodically and follow defined operational processes.
  • Exposure to Microsoft or other cloud platforms.
  • Awareness of cybersecurity standards and good practices.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Individual pay is determined based on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, experience, skills, job‑related knowledge, relevant education, certifications, and/or training. In addition to base salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package and, for certain roles, eligibility in our bonus plan and long‑term incentives as applicable.
