About us
Halfords is on a journey – building the future of motoring and cycling and looking for people who want to help shape what comes next. We’re a place for cocreators: people who want to make a real impact, take ownership and be part of something that’s still evolving.
Technology at Halfords is at a turning point. We’re modernising our foundations, sharpening our delivery, and ensuring every technology decision is connected to real commercial and customer outcomes.
We’re looking for people who act as trusted advisors to the business, take end-to-end accountability for outcomes, and can balance pace with long-term architectural integrity. Innovation here means practical, scalable solutions, not ideas that stay on whiteboards.
About the role
At Halfords, we know great decisions start with trusted data. As a Data Quality Analyst, you’ll help build that trust by identifying and resolving data quality issues, improving how key data assets are managed, and ensuring colleagues can rely on the data they use every day. You’ll turn complex data challenges into clear, actionable insight – working with stakeholders across the business to prioritise fixes, raise awareness of risks, and drive measurable improvements in data quality.
Alongside this, you’ll play a hands‑on role in embedding practical data governance that works in the real world. From shaping policies and clarifying ownership to integrating controls into everyday processes, you’ll help make quality, compliance and accountability part of how we operate. You’ll also champion data literacy, ethics and privacy – supporting colleagues to use data confidently, responsibly and safely. If you’re motivated by making data more reliable, accessible and impactful, this is your chance to make a difference.
Key responsibilities
- Own the identification and prioritisation of data quality issues – proactively surfacing risks and partnering with data owners to drive fixes that keep data reliable and decision‑ready.
- Turn insight into impact by communicating data quality findings in a clear, compelling way that influences both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Shape and support practical governance frameworks, policies and standards that build trust in data across the organisation.
- Champion ownership and accountability by helping define data roles and RACI, ensuring responsibilities are clear and actioned.
- Make governance part of everyday work by embedding effective, low‑friction controls into delivery and operational processes.
- Empower colleagues through data literacy – promoting best practice, supporting learning, and enabling confident, responsible data use.
- Act as a guardian of ethics and privacy, identifying risks early and guiding teams to manage data safely and compliantly.
- Help maintain high standards by monitoring compliance, assessing the impact of issues, and driving sustainable improvements to prevent recurrence.
About you
- Proven ability to spot data quality issues and opportunities, working confidently with both technical teams and business stakeholders to drive improvements.
- Solid understanding of the data lifecycle and how governance controls can be applied to maximise data value and minimise risk.
- Strong communicator who can translate complex topics into clear, practical messages that resonate with different audiences.
- Working knowledge of data ethics and privacy, with the judgement to identify risks and escape appropriately.
- Experience supporting data governance and data maturity improvements, applying best practices to enhance trust and usability.
- Collaborative and proactive, with the ability to influence without authority, build strong relationships, and solve problems with a practical, outcomes-focused mindset.
- A fair and competitive salary evaluated against market data, annual discretionary bonus scheme, pension, life assurance, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays and enhanced family leave.
- Commitment and dedication to your ongoing personal and professional development. We help you to own and grow your potential so you can be at your best in your current role and to support your future career aspirations.
- We offer hybrid working in our Support Centre, you will be based at our Support Centre 3 days a week with an optional 2 days working from home.
- You will have access to a wealth of employee discounts across the Halfords suite of products and services.
- Wellbeing and inclusion are at the heart of our colleague experience. We offer resources and ongoing support to enhance your wellbeing at work and active Colleague Networks supporting inclusion initiatives across Halfords.
Not sure you meet all the criteria? We’d encourage you to take the wheel and apply anyway! At Halfords we are committed to creating an inclusive workplace for our colleagues. We’re an equal opportunities employer and proud to welcome applications from all backgrounds and embrace diversity within our one Halfords Family.
At Halfords, we operate a hybrid working policy with 3 days on site at our Support Centre in Redditch.
