Job Overview

Job Title: Clinical fellow in Diabetes & EndocrinologyStart Date: ASAPContract Type: Fixed termDuration: 12 MonthsPurpose: Training Contract

Responsibilities

  • Provide registrar‑level (ST3+) clinical support across inpatient and outpatient Diabetes & Endocrinology services
  • Participate in ward rounds, manage inpatient referrals, attend general and specialist clinics and multidisciplinary team meetings
  • Contribute to endocrine dynamic testing and tertiary subspecialty services
  • Support high‑quality patient care and service development within a multidisciplinary team
  • Engage in audit, quality improvement, teaching and research activities
  • Teach and train junior colleagues and wider clinical staff

Qualifications and Experience

Essential criteria

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • GMC registration with a licence to practice
  • Appropriate knowledge base and ability to apply sound clinical judgement
  • Medical training to degree level
  • MRCP or equivalent
  • At least 3 years medical experience since qualification
  • NHS experience

Desirable criteria

  • Additional training courses
  • Attendance at professional meetings
  • Experience in Diabetes & Endocrinology
  • Completed audit projects

Additional Information

Appointment will be made under local contractual terms and conditions of service for Trust‑appointed fellow doctors. Salary will be assessed based on experience and skill, with a basic salary at a nodal pay point linked to the grade (see National Medical and Dental pay circular). The role includes opportunity for study leave and CPD support. Salary eligibility includes a minimum of 6 years of specialty training, relevant higher‑specialty examinations (FRCP, FRCA, FRCS), and a portfolio demonstrating progression.
