Service Automation Engineer (graduate/early-career)

We are seeking a Service Automation Engineer (graduate/early-career) to join our Service Automation team, building automation capabilities that reduce operational toil, integrate disparate systems, and enable self‑service platforms within secure guardrails.

As a Service Automation Engineer, you will learn to automate within guardrails—developing automated workflows, integrating systems, and creating self‑service capabilities that empower internal customers while maintaining zero‑trust security boundaries. You’ll work closely with senior engineers, learning through hands‑on implementation of real automation challenges.

This is an individual‑contributor role with strong mentorship—you will deliver working automation while building expertise in software engineering, cloud platforms, and enterprise integration patterns.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build automation services and workflows under guidance from senior engineers
  • Develop APIs and integrations across tools (e.g., Jira, GitHub, Azure, monitoring platforms)
  • Create automation features following established patterns and frameworks
  • Write unit and integration tests to ensure quality
  • Implement logging, metrics, and observability in solutions
  • Support internal users of automation and self‑service platforms
  • Document code, runbooks, and usage guides clearly
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with support from senior team members

Learning & Skill Development

  • Build foundational knowledge of cloud platforms (especially Azure)
  • Develop programming skills in Python, C# or Go
  • Learn API design, authentication, and integration techniques
  • Gain exposure to workflow orchestration and event‑driven systems
  • Build understanding of CI/CD, testing, and engineering best practices
  • Learn security fundamentals (zero‑trust, secure‑by‑design)
  • Participate in design discussions and learn from experienced engineers

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • 1–2 years’ experience in a tech role or a relevant degree (e.g., Computer Science, Software Engineering)
  • Basic programming skills in at least one language (e.g., Python, C#, Go, Java)
  • Understanding of software development fundamentals (Git, testing, basic problem‑solving)
  • Awareness of APIs (REST, HTTP, JSON concepts)
  • Strong willingness to learn cloud, automation, and integration technologies
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues and support technical users
  • Good communication skills and ability to document work clearly
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies

Essential Technical Skills

  • Working knowledge of Python, C#, or Go (or willingness to learn)
  • Basic understanding of APIs, HTTP, and JSON
  • Version control using Git (branching, pull requests)
  • Awareness of testing practices (unit and integration testing)
  • Debugging and problem‑solving skills
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS or GCP) or strong interest to learn
  • Familiarity with developer tools (IDEs, CLI tools, package managers)
  • Basic understanding of authentication (tokens, credentials, secrets)
  • Awareness of container concepts (e.g., Docker)
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • Ability to document solutions and create simple guides
  • Structured approach to troubleshooting
  • Confidence to ask questions and seek guidance
