Key Responsibilities and Expected Outcomes
A (Senior) Service and Validation Engineer will deliver high‑quality technical support across two core areas: validation of biomedical equipment and after‑sales service and maintenance. The role is customer‑facing, field‑based, and central to ensuring PHC’s products perform to the highest standards.
- Lead validation activities at customer sites primarily across the UK, ensuring equipment meets regulatory and performance standards.
- Liaise with customers to confirm requirements, explain validation procedures, and agree on schedules.
- Adapt to changing customer needs during validation, clearly communicating any technical or commercial implications.
- Investigate and report product anomalies to the Validation Business Manager or Technical Support colleagues as appropriate.
- Support the development and enhancement of validation protocols, incorporating new technologies and customer expectations.
- Deliver training on validation procedures to both customers and internal engineers, providing hands‑on support during validation projects.
- Represent PHC in customer meetings to promote validation services and support sales efforts.
Service Delivery and Product Maintenance
- Perform installation, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on PHC equipment.
- Maintain up‑to‑date product knowledge and share insights with colleagues to support team development.
- Work with colleagues to ensure all tools and equipment are compliant, calibrated, and ready for use.
- Collaborate with Service Administration for efficient job planning and scheduling.
- Adhere to Health & Safety regulations and customer site protocols.
- Deliver exceptional customer service through professional conduct, clear communication, and technical expertise.
- Complete service reports promptly to support accurate invoicing and customer follow‑up.
- Promote service contracts and contribute to business growth through proactive customer engagement.
Additional Expectations
- Be available for international travel to support global validation and service activities.
- Continuously develop technical skills and understanding of validation standards, instrumentation, and service best practices.
- Act as a role model within the team, inspiring others through professionalism, initiative, and collaboration.
Desired Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Ideally a vocational qualification in refrigeration engineering or a related technical discipline. Equivalent experience or training in validation, biomedical engineering, or instrumentation will be considered.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in service engineering, validation, or a similar technical field. Candidates with less experience but strong technical aptitude will also be considered.
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with thermodynamics and European validation standards is desirable. Experience with biomedical or laboratory equipment and comfort with software tools for measurement and data logging is beneficial.
