Associate Electrical Engineer – Building Environments Team – Manchester
We are recruiting for an Associate Electrical Engineer to join our Building Environments team in our Manchester office. The role offers the opportunity to immerse yourself in a varied portfolio of engaging and dynamic projects both in the UK and globally, including high-profile projects such as the Wrexham AFC Kop Stand Redevelopment, the Wrexham – STōK Cae Ras stadium redevelopment, the MMU All Saints Library, and the Sister Manchester Plot C development.
Key Duties
- Contribute to leading the electrical team and take a project leadership role as required.
- Communicate directly with clients, offering innovative design solutions and managing expectations.
- Develop relationships with existing and new clients including contractors, architects, and developers.
- Prepare technical and financial proposals for new work.
- Manage workload of engineers and technicians.
- Prepare technical specifications.
- Monitor financial performance of jobs and set up and manage job/project administrative systems, including planning and monitoring job resourcing/expenditure.
- Undertake detailed electrical engineering building services design and calculations using Revit and Amtech software.
- Embrace technologies to improve performance and sustainability to meet net‑zero targets by 2030.
- Ensure projects are carried out to an excellent standard, within agreed deadlines and budget.
- Actively engage with colleagues across disciplines in group discussions and events.
- Mentor more junior team members, potentially leading to an early line management role.
Your Skills and Experience
- Extensive electrical design experience in an MEP consultancy, with experience acting as project leader.
- Diverse sector experience, ideally with large‑scale projects.
- Strong interpersonal and organisational skills, able to develop relationships with clients, architects, and team members.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering.
- Professional registration with a relevant institution (e.g., CIBSE, IMechE).
- Good understanding of other design disciplines.
- Broad design knowledge across British, US, and European codes of practice.
- Experience using common analysis software including Revit and Amtech, and willing to learn new analysis packages.
- Digital engineering skills (e.g., coding) or use of automation tools would be advantageous.
