Security Officer

Job Summary

We are looking to recruit a Security Officer to assist with maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for the University community through the protection of people, property and assets.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out patrols across campus and surrounding land holdings.
• Cover 24/7 shifts in a 4 on / 4 off rolling pattern (0800–2000 or 2000–0800) for 365 days a year.
• Respond to incidents and provide a safe environment.
• Attend required training courses and maintain full on‑site training.
• Operate with integrity, discretion and honesty when dealing with sensitive issues.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Reasonable physical fitness to perform patrols.
• Experience in an education or similar environment preferred but not essential; full training will be provided.
• Effective communication and excellent customer care skills.
• A full UK driving licence.
• Ability to work both as part of a team and independently.

Additional Information

• Position based at Newport campus.
• Full on‑site training will be provided.
• Closing date for applications: midnight on 22nd June 2026.
