Salary: £70,347 per annum

Contract: Permanent, Full-Time

Shifts: Rotating shifts including nights

Training: 2 months at CAF Chester (fully expensed)

The Role

As Team Leader, you’ll be at the heart of the operation — driving performance, leading from the front, and making a visible difference every day.

You will coordinate and inspire a team of skilled Technicians, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality output across all activities.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate and develop a team of Technicians
  • Oversee daily production activities and deliver against targets
  • Allocate work effectively and drive high performance standards
  • Provide hands‑on technical support and guidance when needed
  • Ensure full compliance with safety, quality and engineering processes
  • Act as the crucial link between engineering teams, operations, and management
  • Champion continuous improvement, reliability, and best practice

About You

You’re a technically strong engineer with leadership potential — someone who takes pride in delivering results and bringing out the best in others.

You’ll likely come from a heavy engineering background, ideally with experience in one or more of the following:

  • Mechanical or electrical engineering
  • Diesel engine maintenance
  • Marine, HGV, bus, automotive or industrial environments
  • PLC, HVAC or electrical diagnostics

You will also bring

  • Experience supervising, mentoring or guiding others (formal or informal)
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset
  • The drive and ambition to progress into senior leadership roles within CAF
  • A minimum Level 3 engineering qualification

Training

Your journey starts with a fully funded 2‑month training programme at CAF Chester — giving you the tools, knowledge, and confidence to hit the ground running. All travel and accommodation expenses are covered.
