The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the position of a Senior Health Care Support Worker within the Cardiology Ward at the Royal Hospital for Children. We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, dynamic and approachable individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, who is prepared to participate in ongoing learning. All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern

  • This is a part time role for 34.5 hours
  • These hours will be worked rotationally, dayshifts and nightshifts over 7 days
  • This post will be based at the Royal Hospital for Children
  • Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours.

Key Responsibilities

Work within Ward 1E, a 14‑bedded inpatient ward providing national cardiology care for children and young people across Scotland, supporting the multidisciplinary team in delivering high‑quality patient care.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job

  • SVQ Level 3 or equivalent
  • Basic literacy and numeracy
  • Previous child care experience
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Willingness to undertake training and become competent within 6 months in:
    1. Recording Vital Signs
    2. Pressure Area Care
    3. Nasogastric Feeding
    4. Gastrostomy Feeding
    5. Moving and Handling
