CNC Machinist

Service is recruiting for a CNC Machinist to join a well‑established precision engineering and manufacturing business based in Cambridge.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CNC professional to join a modern machine shop, programming, setting and operating a range of CNC turning and milling machines while supporting continuous improvement and maintaining high quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Program, set and operate CNC turning and milling machines
- Produce high‑precision components to engineering drawings and specifications
- Create, edit and optimise CNC programs to improve efficiency and quality
- Select tooling, fixtures and machining strategies for a variety of components
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling and programming issues
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the machine shop
- Carry out machine maintenance and ensure equipment is operating effectively
- Maintain high standards of quality, safety and housekeeping
About You
- Proven CNC machining experience within a precision engineering environment
- Strong programming, setting and operating experience across turning and/or milling disciplines
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings
- Experience producing high‑precision components to tight tolerances
- Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge of Mazak, Citizen, Matsuura or similar CNC machinery would be advantageous

- Rotating shift pattern:
- Week 1: Monday to Thursday, 6:00am – 2:00pm, Friday 6:00am – 1:00pm
- Week 2: Monday to Thursday, 2:00pm – 10:00pm, Friday 12:45pm – 6:45pm
