We are offering an exciting opportunity to be our Youth Lead – leading our community and church-based youth work to reach and disciple more young people on our estate. Alongside this, we are offering funding on the 2-year St Mellitus Future Generations training programme to be trained in youth work and theology – more details on the website https://stmellitus.ac.uk/future-generations-programme.

The purpose of this role is to grow and develop our work reaching out to young people (and their families) in our local community. At the moment some of the key elements of this are our weekly deatched youth work on our estate, a monthly youth group, and regular youth led Sunday Services. Your job would be lead us as a church in reaching, enabling and discipling young people to become all that God has called them to be. We hope you would have some experience of work with 11-18s in or outside of church and a desire to grow into church leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead community and church-based youth work to disciple and reach more young people.
  • Deliver weekly youth work on the estate, a monthly youth group, and regular youth led Sunday Services.
  • Work with and support families of young people in the local community.
  • Develop and grow youth programmes within the church.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with 11-18 year olds in or outside of a church setting.
  • A desire to grow into church leadership.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to the values and mission of a Church of England church.

Salary & Benefits

22.5 hours per week at the London Living Wage (currently £14.80 per hour, equating to £17,316 per annum).

Contribution to a pension scheme, 25 days holiday and Bank holidays (pro rata).

Full funding for the Future Generation scheme at St Mellitus for 2 years (dependant on successful application for a place on the programme).
