We are currently recruiting for an exciting opportunity with Bury Council’s Adult Social Care in GM Collaboration. We’re looking for an experienced Adults Social Worker within the Preparing for Adulthood Team. This ongoing locum position offers a dynamic environment where you can make a real difference. Based in Bury, Greater Manchester, this role involves working with young people aged 14-25 as they transition into adulthood. You will earn £30.00 hourly, working full-time, 7.4 hours per day, 5 days a week. The start date is 22nd June 2026, concluding on 22nd September 2026. What you will do

  • Support young people with care needs, disabilities, and facilitate complex transitions into adulthood.
  • Lead and design strengths-based, person-centred transition planning to foster independence and positive outcomes.
  • Collaborate effectively with schools, colleges, healthcare providers, and partner agencies.
  • Promote the values of independence, aspiration, and inclusion amongst young people.
  • Ensure the voice of young people is heard and considered in all decision-making processes.
  • Assist in developing quality assurance practices and contribute to best practice improvements within the team.

Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker: Experience in adult social care, transitions, or disability services.
  • Safeguarding Knowledge: Strong understanding of safeguarding principles and person-centred approaches.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional communication and partnership-building abilities.
