Level 2 British Sign Language Teaching Assistant – Gateshead
A welcoming and inclusive school in Gateshead is seeking a dedicated Level 2 British Sign Language Teaching Assistant to join their team from September.
This full-time role offers the opportunity to support pupils with hearing impairments and communication needs, helping them engage fully in learning and school life.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing BSL support throughout the school day
- Supporting pupils during lessons and classroom activities
- Delivering one-to-one and small-group interventions
- Promoting communication, confidence and independence
- Supporting pupils’ social and emotional development
- Working closely with teaching staff and families
Candidate Requirements
- A Level 2 BSL qualification
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
- Experience working with children or young people (desirable)
- A proactive and adaptable approach
- A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
- Valid enhanced DBS check & subscription to DBS Update Service
