SEND Teacher – SEMH Specialist
Location: North Wakefield. This is a full‑time, permanent opportunity.
The Role
You will work with pupils who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, many of whom may also have ASD, ADHD or other complex needs, including trauma‑related challenges that may act as a barrier to mainstream education.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual needs.
- Support pupils with SEMH, ASD, ADHD and additional complex needs.
- Build positive, consistent relationships that help pupils feel safe and understood.
- Manage challenging behaviour using calm, trauma‑informed approaches.
- Work closely with Teaching Assistants, pastoral teams, therapists and SENCOs.
- Create a structured, nurturing environment where pupils can re‑engage with learning.
Requirements
- QTS with some teaching experience within SEND or SEMH.
- Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs.
- Strong behaviour‑management and relationship‑building skills.
- A resilient, patient and compassionate approach.
Benefits and Conditions
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position; the option to become permanent may become available at a later date.
