Transport Driver Courier Service
We are seeking a reliable, dynamic and enthusiastic Courier Driver to join the Transport team at Dorset County Hospital.
The closing date is 25 June 2026.
- Provide an efficient courier service between the Trust and other health establishments across the county of Dorset.
- Deliver and collect mail, specimens, vaccines, medical records and occasionally medical gases.
We are looking for two drivers for the following positions:
- Full-time: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 11.00 am – 19.00 pm.
- Part-time: 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9.00 am – 15.00 pm.
Main duties of the job
- Sort, deliver and collect mail, sundry items and specimens to and from various healthcare establishments in Dorset, including acute Trusts such as Salisbury, Royal Bournemouth, Poole and Southampton.

Person Specification
Education
- Full Clean UK Driving Licence
- GCSE (grade C or above) in English and Maths or equivalent
Knowledge
- Knowledge of local area
- Some experience of working within a Healthcare facilities environment
- Experience of working with a range of staff at all levels.
- Experience in managing workload to meet deadlines and standards
- Experience of driving passenger/ and or light goods vehicles
Skills
- Evidence of attention to detail and the ability to work without close supervision within broad procedural guidelines.
- Evidence of ability to make decisions within defined boundaries.
- Evidence of ability to work as part of a team.
- Evidence of managing own workload.
- Ability to lift and carry loads.
