The Department for Infrastructure (DfI) is now recruiting for Vehicle & Plant Fitters to join their team.
Location: Workshops in Omagh, Coleraine, Ballymena, Craigavon, Armagh
Salary: £30,458 – £31,097 per annum
Role Summary
In this role, you will ensure that the fleet and plant utilised by the Department is fit for purpose and correctly serviced, as this is essential to the delivery of our key internally contracted functions, including the gritting of our road network.
Key Duties:
- Service, maintenance and repair of vehicles, plant and equipment, including minor electrical repair and operation of stand-alone vehicle/plant diagnostic systems
- Completion of details on job card and service checklist as required
- Recording of parts and materials used from stock as per procedures
- Keep work area and general workshop area clean and tidy to ensure that Health & Safety standards are adhered to
- Ensure that tools and equipment are maintained and used or operated in the correct manner in accordance with Health & Safety regulations
- Operate workshop computer system to produce job cards or look up data (training will be provided as required)
- Voluntary standby and callout duties which may be offered including winter and summer maintenance duties
- Operate Imprest stock stores systems
- Driving Departmental vehicles and plant
Essential Criteria
- Time-served apprenticeship in Motor Vehicle/Construction Plant Maintenance and Repair
- At least an NVQ Level 3 in Motor Vehicle/Construction Plant Maintenance and Repair or equivalent
- A full current driving licence which enables the applicant to drive in Northern Ireland and access to a form of transport
Applications will also be considered from applicants with relevant formal qualifications considered by the selection panel to be of an equivalent or higher standard to those stated.
Relevant or equivalent qualifications: give the type of qualification and date awarded (the date awarded is the date on which you were notified of your result by the official awarding body). If you believe your qualification is equivalent to the one required, the onus is on you to provide the panel with details of modules studied etc so that a well-informed decision can be made.
