Interim Head of Engineering (Data & Software)
Midlands (hybrid) | Initial 3-month contract (inside IR35)

An opportunity for an experienced senior engineering leader to oversee delivery across data and software teams within a complex, evolving environment. This role is focused on leadership, driving standards, and improving delivery, with potential to develop into a longer-term position.
Responsibilities
- Lead approximately 30 engineers across multiple squads
- Drive delivery, standards and best practice
- Provide leadership across distributed teams
- Align engineering output with business objectives
- Support and challenge team leads and managers
Required skillset
- Proven Head of Data or Engineering / senior leadership experience
- Strong background in data‑led environments
- Experience managing large, distributed teams
- Ability to drive engineering standards and challenge effectively
- Exposure to .Net environments
- Knowledge of SQL‑based systems, Databricks and Azure
- Experience delivering in cloud environments
