About the Role

Staffline Recruitment Ireland is seeking an experienced Senior HR Advisor to support the delivery of a consistent, commercially focused HR service across its operations throughout Ireland.

Working closely with branch managers, regional leaders and the Human Resources Director, the Senior HR Advisor will provide practical and timely guidance across employee relations, people management, payroll processes and HR best practice.

You will act as a trusted point of contact for managers and employees, helping to ensure that HR policies and procedures are applied consistently across multiple locations. The role will also involve monitoring developments in Northern Irish and Irish employment legislation, supporting organisational change and contributing to a positive employee experience.

Key Responsibilities

HR Advice and Employee Relations

  • Provide practical and timely advice on employee relations matters, including investigations, disciplinary procedures, grievances, absence management and performance concerns.
  • Coach and support line managers in managing people-related matters effectively and in line with employment legislation and company procedures.
  • Support managers in applying HR policies and procedures consistently across branches and operational sites.
  • Liaise with the company’s retained employment law specialists when specialist advice is required.
  • Prepare responses to employment-related legal claims in partnership with legal advisors.
  • Attend relevant proceedings and represent the business when required.
  • Conduct or oversee exit interviews and analyse feedback to identify recurring themes and areas for improvement.
  • Support conflict resolution and help address employee concerns at an early stage.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive employee and business information.

Employment Law and Compliance

  • Ensure HR practices remain compliant with applicable employment legislation in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
  • Monitor legislative changes and assess their potential impact on the business.
  • Recommend updates to policies, procedures and working practices where required.
  • Promote consistent standards of HR compliance across the organisation.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and support data integrity across HR systems.

Payroll and HR Systems

  • Act as a key liaison between the business and the payroll team.
  • Collate, validate and submit monthly payroll information accurately and within agreed deadlines.
  • Process payroll inputs, including salary changes, overtime, bonuses, absence information and statutory payments.
  • Support payroll administration within a fast-paced, multi-site environment.
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll accuracy, efficiency and reporting.
  • Support the administration of the company’s HR system, ensuring employee and manager records remain accurate and up to date.
  • Monitor changes that affect payroll, including pay rates, absences and employee details.

Reporting and People Data

  • Produce and analyse HR reports to support business decision-making.
  • Monitor employee absence data and work with managers to address recurring or ongoing issues.
  • Provide weekly executive briefings and monthly HR reports to senior HR management.
  • Present numerical data clearly and identify trends that may affect employee engagement, retention or performance.
  • Use people data to recommend improvements to HR processes and employee outcomes.

Learning, Development and Performance

  • Support the delivery of monthly one-to-one meetings and annual appraisal processes.
  • Encourage managers to complete timely and meaningful performance reviews.
  • Promote the organisation’s quarterly training calendar.
  • Develop and deliver HR workshops where required.
  • Coach managers to improve their understanding of HR policies, employee relations and people management responsibilities.

HR Projects and Organisational Support

  • Support onboarding, employee lifecycle processes and HR administration standards.
  • Contribute to organisational change, restructuring and workforce planning activities.
  • Participate in HR projects designed to improve engagement, performance and the employee experience.
  • Build effective working relationships with managers, operational teams and key stakeholders across Ireland.
  • Work collaboratively with HR administrators to ensure efficient HR operations and high-quality employee support.
  • Maintain up-to-date professional HR knowledge.
  • Complete other duties aligned with the responsibilities and requirements of the role.

Essential Criteria

  • A minimum of two years’ experience within a generalist HR advisory role.
  • Demonstrable experience advising on complex employee relations matters.
  • Experience supporting investigations, disciplinary procedures, grievances, absence management and performance processes.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of Northern Irish employment law.
  • A minimum Level 5 CIPD qualification.
  • A third-level qualification in a business-related discipline or a relevant equivalent qualification.
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to balance business requirements with legal and employee-related risks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong coaching, influencing and stakeholder-management abilities.
  • Experience supporting change management and conflict resolution.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • A full clean driving licence or reliable access to transport, as regular travel is required.

Desirable Criteria

  • Chartered CIPD membership.
  • Previous HR experience within a recruitment agency, professional services or business services environment.
  • Experience supporting or overseeing TUPE processes.
  • A recognised coaching or mentoring qualification.
  • Knowledge or experience of employment legislation in the Republic of Ireland.
  • Previous experience supporting payroll processes within a multi-site organisation.
