Job Overview

We are looking for people who can help us deliver high quality care and support to adults with disabilities in a supported living environment.

You will provide day‑to‑day support, assisting with personal care, promoting choice and control, and maximizing independence. Previous formal care experience is not required; we value individuals who share our commitment to quality care and celebrate individuality.

Leicestershire County Council will provide the necessary training, mentoring, coaching and support. Training costs and an enhanced DBS check (Adults Barred List) for a regulated activity will be covered.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high quality care and support that maximises independence and adheres to Adult Safeguarding and Valuing People Now regulations.
  • Use available equipment to support moving and handling of service users and attend training courses as required.
  • Communicate effectively with service users, including those using alternative communication methods such as Makaton, picture boards or signs.
  • Organise and prioritize workloads, remaining calm under pressure.
  • Work independently and as part of a team, responding effectively to crisis situations.
  • Maintain clear, concise written records.
  • Be responsive to the changing needs of a 24/7 service, including flexible working hours, weekends, bank holidays, and occasional meetings or training outside normal hours.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of accessible and inclusive service delivery as part of the selection process.

Qualifications

  • Commitment to providing high quality, anti‑discriminatory care and support.
  • Willingness and ability to learn and use equipment for moving and handling service users.
  • Strong communication skills, including proficiency with alternative communication methods.
  • Good organisational and prioritising skills.
  • Teamwork and crisis response abilities.
  • Proficiency in IT and written communication.
  • Flexibility to work a rota that includes weekends and bank holidays, and willingness to attend meetings or training outside normal hours.

Benefits and Working Conditions

Salary: Grade 6, £25,995 – £26,409 per annum (pro rata for part‑time). Pay award pending.

Working hours: 30 hours per week, 1 shift per week. Flexibility required to cover shift times between 7:00 and 22:00, including weekends and bank holidays.

Contract type: Permanent.

Location: The Waterlees Court, Aylestone Lane, Wigston, LE18 1AR.
