About the roleThis is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive and innovative team, playing a key role in strengthening how the council uses performance and risk management to deliver its priorities and improve outcomes for our communities.The purpose of the Performance and Risk Officer role is to strengthen performance and risk management across the council, ensuring frameworks are embedded to support effective decision-making, manage risk, and support policy development that shapes the future of our services.As part of our team, you will be responsible for:Implementing the council’s Performance Management Framework and leading on performance monitoring across service plans and the Council Plan.Supporting and coordinating the annual service planning process, including the production, monitoring and maintenance of service plans to drive delivery.Embedding risk management practices and the Risk and Opportunities Management Framework across the organisation.Providing guidance and support to colleagues on policy development, research and consultation. Who should apply?We are looking for a proactive and analytical individual with performance and/or risk management experience, who will bring positive energy to the role. To be successful in this role, you will also need:The ability to plan, prioritise and manage competing demands in a structured way;To have excellent communication, negotiation, organisational and influencing skills;Experience in dealing with people at a range of levels within an organisation;Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand and interpret data and effectively develop solutions; andA proactive and adaptable approach, with the ability to build strong working relationships across teams and services.Experience in performance or risk management systems, such as Ideagen, is desirable but not essential.For further information about this role or to arrange an informal discussion, please contact Hannah Barton, Policy & Performance Manager, by email hannah.barton@stroud.gov.uk.
