About the Role

We are looking for a sharp, commercially driven Meat Buyer who thrives on negotiation, relationship building, and securing the best deals in a fast-paced environment. This isn’t just a purchasing role — we need a deal maker who understands margins, market trends, and how to create value across the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source and purchase meat and protein products in line with business needs and margin targets
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and supply terms with suppliers
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with domestic and international suppliers
  • Monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, and competitor activity
  • Identify new sourcing opportunities and cost‑saving initiatives
  • Work closely with sales and operations teams to align supply with demand
  • Manage stock levels, ensuring availability while minimising waste
  • Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in meat or protein buying, within wholesale, retail or FMCG
  • Confidence to negotiate, challenge, and walk away from bad deals
  • Strong commercial mindset with a clear understanding of margins and profitability and evidence of improving margin
  • Solid understanding of supply markets and pricing dynamics
  • Must have experience on volume deals, international supply chains and the key suppliers
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and make quick, informed decisions
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills and someone who is ready to step up and take real ownership
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail and focused on delivery, not talking about it
