About the Role
We are looking for a sharp, commercially driven Meat Buyer who thrives on negotiation, relationship building, and securing the best deals in a fast-paced environment. This isn’t just a purchasing role — we need a deal maker who understands margins, market trends, and how to create value across the supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and purchase meat and protein products in line with business needs and margin targets
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and supply terms with suppliers
- Build and maintain strong relationships with domestic and international suppliers
- Monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, and competitor activity
- Identify new sourcing opportunities and cost‑saving initiatives
- Work closely with sales and operations teams to align supply with demand
- Manage stock levels, ensuring availability while minimising waste
- Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in meat or protein buying, within wholesale, retail or FMCG
- Confidence to negotiate, challenge, and walk away from bad deals
- Strong commercial mindset with a clear understanding of margins and profitability and evidence of improving margin
- Solid understanding of supply markets and pricing dynamics
- Must have experience on volume deals, international supply chains and the key suppliers
- Ability to thrive under pressure and make quick, informed decisions
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills and someone who is ready to step up and take real ownership
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and focused on delivery, not talking about it
