Job Description:

Downey Osborne are working with a leading professional services firm in Belfast to appoint an Internal Accountant. This is a key position within the business, responsible for overseeing day-to-day finance operations, producing management information for the Partners and ensuring the smooth running of the firm’s internal accounting processes.

About You

You will be an experienced accounting professional with a strong background in internal finance operations and management reporting.

You will bring:

  • Experience preparing management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations

  • Strong understanding of financial controls and accounting processes

  • Excellent systems skills, including experience with accounting software and Microsoft Excel

  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities

  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of confidentiality

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

Experience within a professional services or accountancy environment would be advantageous.

About Your New Role

Always

  • Prepare monthly management accounts for Partner review

  • Maintain accurate accounting records and financial data

  • Complete control account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies

  • Process supplier payments in line with internal controls and approval procedures

  • Support Partners with financial reporting and analysis

  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and financial regulations

Often

  • Produce ad hoc financial reports and management information

  • Support payroll and finance administration activities

  • Monitor cashflow and financial performance

  • Work closely with colleagues to ensure the smooth running of finance operations

  • Utilise finance and CRM systems to maintain accurate records and reporting

Occasionally

  • Assist with process improvement initiatives

  • Support system enhancements and reporting developments

  • Contribute to finance-related projects as required

  • Provide additional support to Partners and senior management on financial matters

Never

  • Leave reconciliations “for later” and hope they resolve themselves

  • Reply “per my last email” without at least a hint of regret
