Job Description:

The Company: We are looking for an Assistant Designer to join a successful clothing company and add to their busy team. You will be designing on‑trend casual wear for a wide variety of high street customers, both for the UK and international markets, liaising with buyers and meeting briefs.

We are looking for a talented graduate who has a passion for men’s/boy’s ranges and can deliver high‑quality designs supporting key retailers, including M&S & George. The role combines design and administration responsibilities: creating design packs, sample management, and supporting fabric development. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail are essential.

We want a creative yet commercial eye, strong awareness of current trends, and the ability to translate these into children’swear for a mass‑market customer. Ideally the candidate is an enthusiastic fashion‑design graduate with some relevant industry experience, such as a placement with a retailer or supplier.

Initially this is a full‑time, office‑based role. As you gain experience and progress within the team, there may be opportunities for remote working.

Key elements of the role

  • Work closely with the design team to create commercial boys/menswear ranges.
  • Organise the design room and prepare for meetings.
  • Create design packs.
  • Sourcing and updating new fabrics, trims, silhouettes and details.
  • Track new developments with the factory.
  • Take notes at meetings and send an overview to the team.
  • Attend meetings/design presentations where needed and provide creative input.
  • Actively contribute design ideas, research and design concepts to the team.
  • Organise the return of samples.
  • Keep up to date with key trends.
  • Provide creative input with an excellent eye for colour.

Personal attributes or core competencies

  • Bachelor level degree (or equivalent) in Fashion design.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator (must) and Photoshop.
  • Passionate about design with a good eye for jersey products.
  • Confident to share opinions in a professional way.

We look forward to hearing from qualified candidates.
