Your new role

As an Electrician, you will play a key role in the fabrication, assembly, and installation of electrical components within a shipbuilding environment. Reporting to the Trade Supervisor, you will be responsible for installing a wide range of electrical systems and cables to the highest standards.

Your duties will include

  • Installation of various cable types (multi-core, single core, co‑axial, and fibre optic)
  • Installing electrical systems such as junction boxes, fuse panels, transformers, switches, and consoles
  • Carrying out cable reeving, banding, and terminations
  • Aligning and installing electrical equipment accurately
  • Using hand and mechanical tools to complete fabrication and installation tasks
  • Ensuring all work is completed in line with safety (SHE) regulations and quality standards
  • Collaborating with supervisors and other trades to meet production targets and deadlines
  • Maintaining high standards of workmanship and contributing to continuous improvement on site

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Recognised electrical trade qualifications (trade papers)
  • Experience in electrical installation, ideally within shipbuilding, marine, or heavy engineering environments
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and installation plans
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes and installation techniques
  • Knowledge of SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) practices and compliance
  • Relevant safety certifications (SHE induction, COSHH awareness, working at height)
  • Strong practical and hands‑on skills
  • A reliable, team‑oriented attitude with good communication skills
  • The ability to solve problems practically and adapt to changing work requirements
