Regional Maintenance Repair Technician (Field‑Based) – South London/Kent

Location: Field‑based across the South London/Kent

Reports to: Facilities Maintenance & Helpdesk Manager

Contract: Full‑time, permanent (35 hours per week)

Salary: DOE + company vehicle

About The Role

We’re looking for a Regional Maintenance & Repair Technician to join our Facilities team, supporting our centres across the Central London region. This is a field‑based role covering South London/Kent, so a full UK driving licence is essential.

You’ll play a key role in ensuring our childcare centres remain safe, secure, well‑maintained and welcoming. From general repairs to maintaining the external appearance of buildings and grounds, your work will directly support our teams in delivering high‑quality childcare environments.

This role is ideal for a hands‑on maintenance professional who enjoys variety, independence and working across multiple sites.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out maintenance on buildings across the Busy Bees portfolio which includes general maintenance, minor plumbing and carpentry duties, changing light bulbs, furniture repairs, gutter cleans and any other reasonable duties requested by management and the facilities helpdesk.
  • Assist other Regional Maintenance Technicians from time to time.
  • Provide general upkeep and maintenance to outdoor areas such as walkways and exterior buildings and jet‑washing when required.
  • Identify and advise on repairs and maintenance required.
  • Undertake porterage tasks as required including setting up and clearing away furniture.
  • Report emergencies in case of faults with gas, electric and water supply to management and the Facilities Helpdesk, and report minor faults to the Centre Manager.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties within the overall function of the job.
  • Work in accordance with health and safety practices and policies.
  • Understand and comply with Busy Bees policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and care of own company vehicle.
  • Responsible for monthly budget and receipt processing.
  • Follow a pre‑planned maintenance schedule with the ability to work reactively when required.

Experience

Key Experience & Skills

  • Experience in a maintenance, facilities or handyman role.
  • Ability to carry out general repairs including basic plumbing, carpentry, lighting and furniture fixes.
  • Confident maintaining indoor and outdoor areas, including minor grounds work.
  • Able to identify maintenance issues and respond to both planned and reactive tasks.
  • Good understanding of health & safety and working to procedures.
  • Comfortable working independently across multiple sites and supporting team members when needed.
  • Full UK driving licence and responsible use of a company vehicle.
