Learning Support Assistant – Full-time, temporary to permanent from September 2026

This Learning Support Assistant role is within a welcoming and well-organised school environment where pupils benefit from positive relationships and consistent routines. Teaching and support staff work collaboratively to ensure pupils feel safe, supported, and motivated to learn, with a strong focus on personal development and wellbeing. Leaders provide clear direction and effective support for staff, creating a calm and inclusive setting that helps pupils make steady progress.

Duties as Learning Support Assistant

  • Support pupils in the classroom under the direction of the class teacher
  • Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning and promote progress
  • Provide targeted support for pupils with additional learning or behavioural needs
  • Assist with the preparation of learning materials and classroom resources
  • Help maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment
  • Promote positive behaviour and support pupils’ social and emotional development
  • Support pupils during lessons, interventions, and transitions throughout the school day
  • Communicate effectively with teaching staff regarding pupil progress and needs
  • Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and follow all school policies

Ideal Learning Support Assistant

  • Has experience working as a Learning Support Assistant or in a similar school-based role
  • Demonstrates a caring, patient, and supportive approach to working with children
  • Is able to follow teacher direction and work effectively as part of a team
  • Has good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Is flexible, reliable, and committed to supporting pupil development
  • Has a good understanding of safeguarding and inclusive practice
  • Is able to commit to a full-time, long-term role from September 2026
  • Is interested in a temporary to permanent opportunity
