Job Description:

As a Maintenance Technician at Tesco across Port Talbot and Bridgend and surrounding areas, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our stores remain a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for customers and colleagues alike. You’ll be part of a skilled team responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across a range of systems and equipment, helping to keep our operations running smoothly.

Responsibilities

  • Confidently interact with external contractors, coordinating repairs seamlessly.
  • Work collaboratively with the team, demonstrating a commitment to quality service.
  • Sustain high energy levels, juggling tasks while maintaining efficiency.
  • Assist the management team by keeping equipment and facilities operating smoothly.
  • Minimise customer disruption by coordinating repairs with minimal impact on valued customers.
  • Ensure all Tesco sites are a safe and functioning environment for customers and colleagues.
  • Follow the planned work schedule to achieve first‑time fix, improving efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Work closely with team members, sharing best practice and knowledge.
  • Perform general day‑to‑day store and property maintenance.
  • Use mobile devices—phone and tablet—to drive the best approach in work completion and updates.
  • Represent the Tesco brand by demonstrating our core values (serving our customers, communities, and planet a little better every day), maintaining a positive attitude and taking pride in wearing the Tesco uniform.
  • Attend local and national meetings, providing valuable input and feedback.
  • Support a diverse and inclusive culture.

Qualifications & Skills

As a vital part of our Maintenance team, you will demonstrate enthusiasm for maintaining high standards. With previous experience in a maintenance, engineering, or construction environment, you will be digitally confident using a tablet to view daily work schedules and manage emails.

  • ONC or equivalent
  • Full driving licence
  • Health & Safety awareness
  • Communication & Collaboration
  • Office 365 knowledge
  • Completed all technical training upskilling modules relevant to abilities
